But a check of their records showed that they had the same parents and were born on the same day. How could this be?

Typing is an art. You can type very fast moving your fingers around on the keyboard very fast but that would only make it about 20 wpm or at most 30 wpm or 40 wpm.

What if you want to type a whole book which has about 500 pages and each page on average contain 25 lines of 20 words each. So, you will type this book in about 500 x 25 = 12500 minutes or 208 hours or 8.6 days continuously with same speed. This sounds astonishing as well as hectic, isn’t it? So how you can speed up the typing speed and improve the quality of typing?

Typing Speed

Microsoft word come in to play here. Microsoft word has many features which you can use to speed up typing.

Macro:

On of the feature is Macro. Create a macro for repetitive task such as

ActiveDocument.Content.InsertAfter "this is what I need to type again and again"
End Sub

This will put the text on the current caret position as soon as you execute the macro. You can define the Hot Key for such a macro.

Clipboard Manager:

You can copy as many as 24 items on the clipboard for pasting. Thus allowing you the ability to have about 24 items in read to paste buffer. This makes the clipboard manager about 24 times flexible than Macro.

But what if you have the repetitive text phrases more than 24?

Auto Text:

Here comes the Auto Text feature of the Microsoft Word. Using Auto Text you can type commonly used phrases and system will let you type them on the fly. Like when ever you try to type Best Regards in MS word it will give you a tool tip with Best Regards and you can hit enter key to complete the word.

But even in this case it is very slow because you have to type in a few characters of the Best Regards which will be at least “Best Re” and then tool tip will appear.

Auto Hot Key:

Auto Hot Key is an open source tool which can do magic for you. It lets you type a short code for repetitive sentence and automatically expands it on the fly.

Auto Hot Key has a script file saved with .ahk extension. You can store as many script files as many you want, and choose the file to load at any given time. For example, the time you are typing physics notes, load the phsyics.ahk and for chemistry make a file chemistry.ahk.

What is in the script?

Script file contains short codes and their expanded version. like if you have to type in quantum theory repetitively then you can create a short code for that like ::qt::quantumn theory save the file and reload the script. Now open MS Word or any other editor of your choice and type qt<puctuation mark such as .,;- or space> and see the magic of Auto Hot Key.

Now once again you have a difficult part as how you can find those phrases which are most commonly used.

Primitive Word Counter:

Primitive Word Counter is an other free tool which can be used to parse the most common word or phrases used in give text.
